There'll Come A Time

There'll come a time when silence would engulf you from all corners
The rusty gates eroding, as you breathe in the smoky trails of the truck
She would already be ten feet away, head buried in her purse
And that's when the weight of the world would root you to the spot - stuck
It's the nature of sun to prickle you with it's rays
And yet you direct your anger at the moon that resembles her
She never looked back that day, not a quiver, not a gaze
And yet your eyes dance through the path she walked before
She didn't have to break you down, you were far capable
Letting the venom of her words seep deep within
One day you could look at her and believe the fables
The next waking up to the magnanimity of war and famine
Perhaps this is how it feels to swallow powdered glass
But the end is near now, caressing you into its soothing arms
The silhouette might never turn to lock her eyes with yours
Now neither can you, as your eyes glaze over the sky for hours
