In the middle of the sea and the warm sand beneath,
We shared that smoke that would turn me giddy
I could rest my head on your lap and be tightly coddled
It was all so joyful, my heart swayed and waddled
They say you need 4 hugs a day for survival, 12 to soar high
And here I am in your arms all day, breathing a content sigh
As we have breakfast together, under the soft covers
A series in the background, and a gentle kiss that hovers
Time stretched and thinned alike, as we spoke of the vastness
Truth, friendship, solidarity; monkeys typing The Merchant of Venice
We could probe the world's biggest questions on that one call
Or just whisper sweet nothings in early hours of dawn
There were times I was spiralling - a raging, crying mess
I didn't know myself and was breaking down on the terrace
But the predictable drone of your voice soothed me in an instant
Should've known then, that this right here was perfection
I can still hear you strumming your guitar as I started myself,
Your look of surprise as I strang together random notes in a huff
You would decode and explain songs like your final year thesis
And I'd be lying if I say I don't frequent that playlist

Oh how the wind ruffled my hair, as we went over the speed limit
The ride I begged you for, up the hills when it was barely sunlit
A slight skid on an empty road, and it's ghost haunted you a while
Maybe that's why I didn't worry, I had you by my side
As I lay at night watching the stars, these memories float by me
Gentle as a feather touch, to rock me to sound sleep
And I find myself wishing to wake up the next day,
Just so I could hug you tight, and plant a kiss on your face.
